The Punjab government has decided to resume recruitment after a gap of almost 15 years to fill up the vacant posts in the province’s education boards.
The recruitment process is already underway in several boards, including Lahore and Faisalabad. According to officials, the recruitment will cover a number of posts including computer programmer, assistant, senior computer operator, deputy secretary, assistant secretary, and estate officer.
Recruitment will be made for 33 posts of grade 16 and 17 in Lahore alone. These appointments will be made through the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC).
Sources said that several important posts within the boards had been lying vacant for years due to lack of fresh recruitment.
Officials expect that the new appointments will improve administrative and office-related work in the boards, along with increasing the overall efficiency and speed of their daily work.
For an organization that tests, records, and records millions of students every year, a 15-year gap in recruitment is a long time. Whether this recruitment drive completely clears the backlog or is just a first step remains to be seen.
