PMDC has released the schedule for the second round of this exam, NRE Phase 1, for 2026.
Registration begins on August 27, closes on September 10. The exam is scheduled for Sunday, October 11.
As before, NUMS Rawalpindi will handle the exam itself, as it did for the first session this year.
This is not the first NRE Phase 1 round in 2026 either. The first one was held on May 17.
To be clear, it is separate from NRE Phase 2 that covers medical skills. It runs on a completely different calendar, June and July for one cycle, then from late November to early December.
Who needs this exam?
Foreign-educated doctors and dentists, basically anyone who studied medicine or dentistry outside Pakistan and now wants to practice here. Under the PMDC Act 2022, it is mandatory to clear NRE before getting full registration.
Applications go through the PMDC online portal, and nowhere else. Given how close deadlines are usually filled with last-minute technical issues, it is a better move to apply early here rather than waiting till September 10.
Roll number slips and exam city assignments will not be out yet. They usually appear closer to the actual test date, so candidates should keep checking the PMDC website as October approaches.
