A decision has been taken to re-verify student enrollment in government schools across Punjab. School Education Department has instructed all government schools to check their student data and ensure updated records on the portal.
The main focus of this exercise is to verify enrollments in school records. The department wants to address the issue of fake or incorrect enrollments, so schools are being asked to confirm the latest student data.
School heads have been asked to verify student records by name from Pre-Primary to Class 8. Data for Class 9 students will also need to be checked individually and will be displayed separately in Science, Arts, and Matric Tech groups.
Instructions have been given to enter data for English medium and Urdu medium students separately. This will give the department a clearer picture of the actual enrollment of students in schools.
Schools have been given only three days to complete this verification and certification process. Education authorities have also asked them to update enrollment data and records of surplus stock of free textbooks.
Chief Executive Officers of Education at the district level have been given the responsibility to ensure that data for schools in their districts is properly collected and verified. If any student’s record is missing or incorrect on the portal, it can also be updated through the correction system.
One practical purpose of this verification is the planning of free textbooks. The department will calculate the book requirement for the 2027-28 academic session based on this updated enrollment data.
Schools must complete enrollment information and records of surplus textbooks by September 8, 2026. To this end, the department has activated the facility to correct errors and missing information on the online portal.
Work is also underway to maintain student data in a centralized and digital form in Punjab. Earlier plans have included linking student records to a unified database, which will maintain academic and other relevant student information.
After the fresh verification, the department will have a more accurate record of students enrolled in government schools.
